Find out how your audience is using Social Media

Published on June 7, 2010 By SoBuzzzzz

So…I’m putting together my final installment of a 3-part workshop on Social Media Marketing and came across this amazing tool by Groundswell - backed by Forrester.

Apparently, its been around for a while, but it took me a bit to discover it and now am sharing with you. Groundswell has put together what is called the  Social Technographics Ladder. This ladder classifies consumers into 6 overlapping levels of participation. Based on  survey data they show how participation varies among different groups of consumers, globally and have recently updated their ladder to include Twitter  -  We can now see how consumers behave using social media.

I had an amazing experience today that I wanted to share. I had the honor and pleasure of speaking at SCORE Austin this morning. If you don’t know much about SCORE – I would tell you to run, not walk to their website and check out the amazing things that this non-profit has to offer. There is an extraordinary collection of people who have succeeded, failed and succeeded again in the largest of companies and they are offering their wealth of knowledge to those who don’t have the same experience to draw upon.  They want to help small businesses and entrepreneurs succeed and will guide you anywhere from a business idea to implementation and marketing – at no cost!

Twitter Strategy: Branded vs Individual Twitter Accounts

www.twitter.com/kellykleinI came across an article by Eric Schwartzman and he did a great job of explaining the differences of running a Branded vs an Individual account for your business. My philosophy has always been, social media is just that…SOCIAL. I personally don’t want to develop a relationship with a ‘company’. I however wouldn’t mind talking to the owner or employee of one – a  big difference in my mind.

I myself fell into the trap (for a milisecond) and started a ClearFrogMarketing twitter account and ended up discontinuing it just a week  later. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I wanted to engage my followers in an authentic relationship – and it wouldn’t be done hiding behind an icon of an amorphous company.
